For my first post, I’ve created a short video to provide an overview of my HERMS system and to highlight each step of the brew process. The video is simplification of the actual system in order for me to better understand how each component should be plumbed and the flow of the system.
I am using three 20 gallon brew kettles, a herms coil, plate chiller and two pumps. The heating elements and pumps are to be controlled be the control panel (not shown).
If anyone has any suggestions on the layout, please comment below. Also, thanks to my girlfriend, Elizabeth, for doing the awesome voiceovers.

My name is Jon, or Rooster by my friends, and I’m a structural engineer by trade. As you can imagine, as part of being an engineer, I’m fascinated in how things go together and work. As a kid, I would have been more likely to take a toy apart to see what’s on the inside, instead of playing with it. Designing and building things is what I do; hell, sometimes figuring out how to build something and building it can be more interesting than the object itself.
